"Patience. That is my big advice, patience".    Jaime, Kiwi's momma.

Kiwi was an adult when my husband Mike and I brought him home.  Kiwi was intended to be part of our friends' breeding program and had been paired up with a beautiful female.  Unfortunately Kiwi's mate died and he was then caged alone.  When his owners had time they played with Kiwi or when friends came,  which included Mike and myself, Kiwi would get a visit.  Everytime my husband Mike would see him he would tell Kiwi I will take you home anytime.  We all laughed.  The day came when Kiwi was shredding off his chest feathers.  No one had time to get him out to play or to watch over him when he was out.  Kiwi came home with us.  It took a few months to curb the shredding and when he molted out Kiwi had the most beautiful white feathers on his tummy.  Kiwi was also beaky and had a "nibbling"  too hard issue.  We have continued to work with him on that and that usually occurs when Kiwi's hormones kick up a notch at which time  he will get carried away and bite harder than usual.  He seems to prefer singling out my husband Mike.  These episodes sometimes last for several days but do eventually pass.

So that is my advice patience, and of course love.  Both will help in the long run. :)

Gold Capped Conure and Black Headed Caique in need of adoption
July 20, 2004  -  Sadie the Gold Capped Conure and a Boy Named Maggie, BH Caique.

Maggie (BH Caique) and Sadie (gold Cap conure) were both born the end of June of 2001

Golden Capped Conure and Black Headed Caique are in need of a loving, caring and new forever home.   Maggie and Sadie have been together for a number of years, are best buddies and will only be available to a home that can adopt both parrots.  Maggie and Sadie live in the Sacramento, CA area.  Cages and all will go with them. Maggie and Sadie are pets and cannot to be used as breeders.  The conure is a cuddle bug and will lay on its back in your hand.
Wonderful news!  We are happy to announce that Sadie and Maggie will be going to their new home at the end of July  Thank you to all who have responded and very special thanks and hugs to Betsy, Rikki, Janet and Janell.

July 23, 2004  -  Gabby, Black Headed Caique.

Gabby is a healthy, robust, playful Black Headed Caique DNA'd female.  Gabby turned 3 years old on April 10, 2004 and her roots are with a well established, highly respected aviary.  She has been Polyoma vaccinated.

Gabby is extremely intelligent and inquisitive and has a rather large vocabulary for a Caique.  She can say:   What are you doing?, here here, hi, love you, give me a kiss kiss,  up up, Gabby, come here, pretty bird, good bye and even does the classic wolf whistle.
Gabby is very friendly and loves to play outside of her cage and seems to prefers women over men.  Gabby presently resides with several other birds including two other Caiques.  Because she prefers to be the only Caique, Gabby will need to be re-homed where she will be the one and only Caique.  Gabby can be re-homed where there are other parrots though.

Gabby has a very good appetite (what caique doesn't) and is on a diet of Zupreem and Mazuri pellets, Higgens Parrot seed mix, Higgens True Fruit along with healthy table food.

Gabby lives in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania.  DNA and vaccination certificates will be given to her new parronts.

For species specific information please click here.

Very special thank you to Sundance and Cassidy for agreeing to stand-in to show you just how beautiful Black Headed Caiques are.
Wonderful news!  We are happy to announce that Gabby has found her new forever home.    Thank you to all who have responded and very special thanks and hugs to a very special lady, Rikki Paulson.
